Toulon earn victory and a bonus point against Castres!

Rugby Club Toulonnais won 43-3 at the Stade Mayol against Castres, last Sunday, for their first game in 2020. They picked up an extra bonus point as well.
Our men in red and black wanted to start off the year in style and keep their third spot in the Top 14 table. After the ball was thrown by Etrillard, the whole pack went forward along the touch-in-goal line and the referee gave a penalty try after a foul by Castres. 7-0.
After each side converted a penalty and Castres showed a lack of discipline, the home team stepped up the pace after thirty minutes. Baptiste Serin found an interesting thrown-in near the Castres 22-metre line. Toulon grabbed the ball and, after it was carried into the in-goal area, the referee gave another penalty try. 17-3.
Toulon were immediately back on the attack and, on the left side of the pitch, Etrillard passed the ball to fly-half Louis Carbonel, who went to score another try, synonymous with a potential bonus point. 22-3.
Just before half-time, Gervais Cordin found a gap through the Castres backline and handed the ball to Sergio Parisse. The move was quickly made and, eventually, Romain Taofifenua powered through to score Toulon’s fourth try of the game, which was converted by Anthony Belleau. 29-3.
The home team continued their domination in the second half: after fifty minutes, Bryce Heem made a clever pass to Gervais Cordin, who scored another try, converted again by Belleau. 36-3.
A few minutes before the end of the game, Louis Carbonel kicked the ball, which was picked up by Daniel Ikpefan, who dodged the tackles of two Castres players to score the try’s last game. 43-3.
Toulon thus earned victory and an additional bonus point, extending their unbeaten run to ten games. They remain third in the Top 14 table.
