Toulon end Toulouse's winning streak (25-10)!

Rugby Club Toulonnais won 25-10, last Saturday, against Toulouse, at the Stade Orange-Vélodrome, in Marseille, on day 21 of the Top 14.
Heavy rain was falling and Toulon started the game against the Top 14 leader quite well. François Trinh-Duc scored the team’s first points (3-0), but Josua Tuisova was then penalised for a foul and France fly-half Romain Ntamack enabled Toulouse to equalize: 3 apiece.
After the ball was played back in, Toulon grabbed it and Romain Taofifenua, after powering through the Toulouse backline, was just ten metres from the in-goal area. Toulon rounded off the move thanks to J.P. Pietersen, who went past Médard to score his team’s first try, which was not converted by Trinh-Duc: 8-3 after fifteen minutes.
After thirty minutes, Toulouse had most of the possession but, after solid defending by Toulon, Romain Ntamack made a forward pass: Fekitoa picked up the ball and led a counter-attack along with Nakosi to score Toulon’s second try! 15-3.
Just before half-time, Tuisova picked up a yellow card for a dangerous tackle on former Toulon player Théo Belan. Heavy rain was still falling and, at half-time, Toulon were leading 15-3.
Toulon were down to fourteen men, but kept the ball and even had opportunities to score, which they did not take. Twenty minutes into the second half, Florian Fresia was sent off after a scuffle with Lucas Tauzin! Toulon, however, still showed commitment and, on the following move, after a scrum, Rhys Webb set up Malakai Fekitoa, who dodged a tackle by Pagès to score his second try of the afternoon! 22-3.
A few minutes after coming on to the pitch, Anthony Belleau scored a penalty which gave Toulon a healthy lead, 25-3.
Two minutes before the siren blew, Pierre Pagès powered through the Toulon backline and scored a try, which took a possible bonus point away from our men in red and black.
Toulon had stuck to their game plan to end Toulouse’s winning streak, as the visiting team could not take advantage of having one more player on the pitch.
Toulon remain tenth in the Top 14 table, four points behind Montpellier, who play against Agen. Next Saturday, Toulon will travel to Grenoble, on day 22 of the Top 14 (kick-off time: 8:45 p.m.).
