Toulon win at home 33-3 against Agen

Rugby Club Toulonnais won 33-3 against SU Agen, last Saturday, at the Stade Mayol. Our men in red and black also picked up a bonus point, which gives them a breath of fresh air and puts them higher up in the table.
From the outset, Toulon took control of the game and dominated their opponent. At the 9th minute, Fekitoa found a space and made a beautiful pass to Tuisova, who scored the first try, much to the relief of the Mayol crowd.
Eight minutes later, Eric Escande worked his way near a ruck zone and scored the second try. The home side then put the hammer down at the 25th minute through Messam, who forced his way into the Agen in-goal area with the help of Sébastien Taofifénua.
Toulon were leading 19-0 at half-time and had virtually secured the bonus point. Agen showed more commitment in the second half and had most of the possession. Our men in red and black had to defend for half an hour, but they never faltered, except when conceding a penalty at the 43rd minute, converted by Berdeu.
At the 69th minute, Toulon decided to up the ante again, when Anthony Belleau breached the Agen backline and scored the fourth try in the game. Five minutes later, it was Malakai Fekitoa’s turn to score after a move initiated by Julian Savea, his fellow countryman.
Toulon’s last attempt to score a try did not come off, but the players then celebrated their victory and the additional bonus point – the first one this season – with the Mayol spectators.
Toulon travel to Clermont, next Saturday, on Day 6 of the Top 14, for what promises to be a crunch game!
