The reactions after Toulon vs La Rochelle
Here are the main reactions of the Toulon staff and players after the 20-23 defeat against La Rochelle, last Saturday, at the Stade Mayol.
Mourad Boudjellal, RCT Chairman: “We were beaten by a very good La Rochelle side. We knew it would be difficult and we’re not going to indulge in pessimism. Perhaps this defeat will be good news, as it will provoke a reaction. I wish to apologize to the fans, but don’t let us down! This is a difficult year, but we’ll do everything to bounce back.”
Mike Ford, RCT manager: “It was our worst game since my appointment. Our first half was terrible. We improved slightly in the second half, but a few of our moves were suicidal and we were punished for this. The penalty conceded in the dying moments of the game reflects the whole game.”
Jonathan Pélissié, RCT scrum-half: “It’s difficult to make an analysis immediately after the game: in short, we had made a good start, but we were terrible towards the end. There lies our current problem: every time, we have to play a catch-up game. There’s nothing much to do, apart from steady, relentless work. We still have to play as a team and we mustn’t fall apart.”
Anthony Etrillard, RCT hooker: “One scrum makes us lose the game. We’ll have to work in that domain, but not only. We have to show more consistency. We had a difficult first half and we couldn’t win playing like this.”
