The reactions after Lyon vs. Toulon

Here are the main reactions after the 27-13 defeat suffered in Lyon at the Matmut stadium.
Mike Ford, RCT manager: « I’m disappointed. We knew that, with many former Toulon players having joined Lyon, there was going to be much emotion and they were going to favour physical commitment. We saw they wanted the win more than we did. Our line-out throw and our scrum were quite poor today, but I’m really disappointed with our approach to the game. The training sessions this week were not satisfactory: on Tuesday, poor in the scrum and, on Wednesday, poor in line-out throw. You play the way you train. »
Pierre Mignoni, Lyon manager: « It always feels good to win, especially against a major club. It was also important for us to earn points. We’ve played our best game so far this season: we were committed, won many balls and many duels. »
Duane Vermeulen, RCT captain: « It was certainly a poor game. We made mistakes in line-out throw, in the scrum, in almost everything, in fact. We also lacked discipline. We have to make a better preparation ahead of the game and show more self-discipline. »
Sébastien Tillous-Borde, RCT scrum-half: « It is a huge disappointment. We were not committed enough and could not win the ball back properly. It is difficult to impose your game if you don’t have the required aggressivity. So, the result is logical. »
Pierre Bernard, RCT fly-half: « We earn nothing from the game and that’s very frustrating. We were dominated regarding aggressivity and physical contact, the essential requirements in rugby. When the other team is expecting you, you can’t put the aggressivity level on 90 or 100%. It has to be 120%. »
