Fabrice Landreau: "The figures tell"

The Toulon forwards coach attended the pre-game press conference ahead of the game against Bath, on Thursday, December 14th, along with manager Fabien Galthié.
Fabrice, what can you tell us about the Bath team, particularly after the “first leg” you won 24-20, last Saturday, at the Stade Mayol?
We had to size up this team, who plays very fast. But we were able to hold them back and snatch the win. Overall, we had 57% of ball possession: it wasn’t the impression we had during the game, but the figures tell. We could have scored more points, but we didn’t and the game was a very tight one. We’re happy with our victory, even though we gave one try away.
Were you reassured by the statistics?
Our ability to keep the ball is quite reassuring. But we’re trying to improve the ratio between keeping the ball and making good use of it. We’re looking for more efficiency in that domain. The Bath team plays smoothly and their game plan is the same – whether it be in the Premiership or the Champions Cup. The players know one another very well and they can make a difference, as we saw it last Saturday. We’ve tried to spot the various ways they start their moves and we still lack discipline. We still have to play more fluently, even if we were not heavily punished last Saturday.
