Dave Attwood: "It's like being in a dream"

The England second row, who has quickly become a regular member of the Toulon squad, attended the pre-game press conference ahead of Munster vs Toulon, on Tuesday afternoon – an opportunity for him to look back on the progress he has made over the last few weeks.
Dave, what is your current form? After your first games with Toulon, you missed a few of them…
I did. Over the last few weeks, I’ve felt a pain in my shoulder, but everything went well against Clermont. As for my knee, everything is going well. When I arrived in Toulon, the injury had already healed, anyway.
You’re about to play a high-level game against Munster. How do you feel ahead of it?
I’m looking forward to it! I’ve already played against Munster two or three times, but not games as capital as this one. They are a top-level team, but so is Toulon. Every year, Toulon play in the Champions Cup knock-out stages and I’m looking forward to taking part in them.
This is quite an extraordinary adventure you’re living! You were not included in Bath’s first team and now, you’re about to start a Champions Cup quarter-final with Toulon. How do you feel about this?
I wanted to grab the opportunity I was given when I signed for Toulon. I wasn’t a regular member of the Bath team any more, but competition for my position was quite fierce as well. I remember that, during the Christmas period, I was hoping it would be possible for me to sign for Toulon. It was then completed in three days: things unfolded in quite a strange way, but that was great. And now, I have the opportunity to play a Champions Cup quarter-final and it’s like being in a dream! I really feel at home in Toulon: it was easy to adapt to the team, in a way, as there are many great players here. The team is really great and I have found my place within it.
