The RCT and South Africa, a historical connection :
The “Rugby Club Toulonnais” is probably one of the clubs in France which welcomed the most Springbok players in its staff. First South African to come to Toulon in 1986, Eric Melville is a legend of the Red & Black club. French champion in 1987 and 1992, this fighter embodied better than anyone the values of fight and generosity of the RCT. Many Springbok players have worn the Red & Black jersey and had great success with the RCT. Among them, we can mention: Joe Van Niekerk, Lawrence Sephaka, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Danny Rossouw, Juan Smith, Bryan Habana, Duane Vermeulen, Eben Etzebeth… Even today, World Champion Cheslin Kolbe represents the Springboks with dignity in the RCT and the TOP 14.
