Ben Barba : "It's an honour to be here"

A genuine Rugby league star player has joined RCT for the rest of the season.
Ben Barba, the 27-year-old Australian (5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 13 lb), successively played for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.
Throughout the years, Ben Barba has proved to be one of the best ever try scorers in National Rugby League, scoring 99 tries in 166 games!
He has just signed for Rugby Club Toulonnais until the end of the season.
He primarily plays fullback, but can also play centre, fly-half and scrum-half.
A few days after his arrival in Toulon, he was interviewed by rctoulon.com and gave his first impressions…
Q.: Ben, you arrived in Toulon last week. How are you feeling now?
A.: I’m very excited! The deal was concluded very quickly. Now, it’s a new adventure, a new challenge – and almost a new kind of game for me, so I’m even more excited! Everything is new for me: I wished for a change and that’s the case. Everything is going to change, on the pitch and outside it. This is a real test for me and it’s an honour to be here. When I’m at the clubhouse looking at the photos of great players who used to play for RCT – like Sonny Bill Williams or Jonny Wilkinson, for instance – or great players who are still there – among them, Matt Giteau, whom I know very well – I feel it’s a special privilege to be part of the team.
Q. : As you used to play rugby league, rugby union is new for you. To what extent?
A.: When I began rugby, I played rugby union until I was 18. Then, I chose rugby league, so my statement is slightly exaggerated: it’s not all new for me, as I have rugby union experience all the same. But I know what I have to do: training and practicing in order to deliver on the pitch.
Q. : What would be your favourite position in a rugby union team?
A. : In rugby league, I used to play fullback, but I know this position is quite a different one in rugby union. But, as I’m a new player here, some of my teammates are already used to playing at the backline. So, I’m going to do what I’m asked, play at the position I’m told to and try to bring something to the team.
